From http://sharpwriters.com/genealogy/taliaferro.html#francis2

Robert TALIAFERRO, (II) born in 1667, died in 1728. He married first Sarah CATLETT, a sister of the Elizabeth CATLETT who married Francis TALIAFERRO (our ancestor) and a sister of Mary CATLETT who married John TALIAFERRO, son of Col. John TALIAFERRO. Robert and Sarah's children included: Mary TALIAFERRO; Martha TALIAFERRO; Elizabeth TALIAFERRO; and Robert TALIAFERRO III. He married second Margaret BUCKNER and died June 6, 1726, at St. Paul's Parish, King George, Virginia.

The previous establishes parentage. But for the marriage I am seeing:

From http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mrmar...

Gabriel Long, son of Richard Long, married Margaret Harrison, daughter of Andrew Harrison and Eleanor Long, and it is believed Nicholas Ware, III married Ms. Long daughter of Richard Long and unknown. Nicholas Ware was the brother-in-law of Gabriel Long and Gabriel Long was the brother-in-law of William Harrison. Robert Taliaferro provided security for William Harrison's will in 1741.

Who is the robert taliaferro who proved thos powell's will (1739) and was wm harrison's security in 1741? robert III (of Robert) is dead in 1726; robert (of francis) in 1725; robert (of john "the ranger") in 1728; chas & richard have no roberts. john "the ranger's" grandson robert could be a candidate. why is he here at all, if the others are all long-connected?

might robert taliaferro represent a widower nicholas ware (and any children of his deceased sister) since remarried to a long (if indeed nicholas is an in-law of gabriel long)?

and who are samuel coleman (wife bettie wiatt) and thomas samuel to thomas powell? (mary powell MIGHT be a wiatt.)

wm b. marye offered the suggestion to mrs martha hiden 19 aug. 1946 (vhs hiden mss 1h5300) that nicholas ware's (d.1744) wife might have been a taliaferro. she did not include that guess in her 1948 article in tyler's (v.30) on richard powell of amherst, when she did entertain another suggestion that thomas powell's (d.1739) wife was a wiatt.

taliaferros are associated with wares in the deeds of amherst.

For Nicholas Ware,"Jr." of Stratton Major Parish there is a wife Elizabeth Garrett listed here

With a note: "According to Mr. Peter McDearmon Witt Elizabeth Garrett may have been named Gresham."

Should show all the Robert Taliaferro's listed in Mike Marshall's database - transcription of will & probate data.

ah! the dangers of internet postings! your errors will follow you.

see genforum WARE post # 365 for the ware-gresham connection (a speculation i passed on).

a later post of wanda ware degidio (genforum WARE # 3028) supports your cited LONG-HARRISON connection but introduces a MUNDAY who marries the ware.

these speculations are more cogent (if less attractive) than a taliaferro marriage.

I think the birthdate given robert taliaferro (b.1725) son of john and agnes, is too late given his parents' own birthdates.

the taliaferro connection remains a puzzle.

wanda digidio has a website "warefamily history.com," which seems to assigns sarah munday as wife to nicholas ware (d. c.1800 edgefield s.c.), BROTHER to edward ware (d.1785 amherst).
