What may be causing confusion is that the Relationship Path on a profile will only ever show the most direct route between yourself and the profile.

Having said that it you are saying he is showing up as your paternal 10th ggf not your 9th maternal ggf, so that sounds wrong?

not sure if I am right, but if you look at the 'KWARTIER-staat' of our Royalty, you can see for yourself that some ages before people married 'in the family' to keep up the estate and maybe qualities of monarchy.
So, if you meet & greet the same people some generations before this era, it MIGHT be normal behaviour of those times. groeten, jeannette.
