10,000 Profiles Strong

We Just added the 10,000 profile to the Mormon Pioneer Projects on geni.com This has taken a tremendous effort with multiple people collaborating.

This morning I realized that there were 9,999 profiles in the various Mormon Pioneer projects on geni.com and I wanted to choose someone special for the honor of being the 10,000 person added to the project.

Elijah Abel or Elijah Ables was the first black man to receive the LDS priesthood in 1836 when he was ordained an Elder by the prophet Joseph Smith.

I choose Elijah Ables as he was truly a Mormon Pioneer on multiple levels. You can read more about him in recent books and articles or view some initial research on his family here:

Great choice, Randy! I'm glad to have been a part of reaching this milestone and will be excited to watch our pioneer projects continue to grow!
