Hi Carol,

I called Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora, IL the other day. They were very helpful. They confirmed that Drusilla, John H., Luther and Richard were buried together (Section LW, Lot 106) and that Drusilla and Luther had been reinterred from one side of the cemetery to their present location. I created a memorial for Drusilla, Luther and Richard on findagrave.com. John H. Gross already had a memorial. I requested a photograph of the headstone before I knew that you had one. It has been posted to their findagrave.com memorials already. It confirms that only Luther has been inscribed on the Gross headstone. It is very worn and his birth month is illegible. Does your photo show it?

In the last message you sent, you indicated that you found a certificate of death for burial in Fernwood Cemetery. Whose certificate of death is that? I am confused.

Hi - For Rebecca Johnson, the image # is 86 not 46 if I remember right.
It's familysearch.com. Yes I was able to read the birth date, it is 1/24/1864 when he was born, and passed away 11/29/1897 in San Diego, California. I have the death certificates for both John & Drusilla and their granddaughter.
The only name on the head stone is Luther's. Some day I hope to put everybody's on it. Talk to you later. Carol

Hi Carol,

Regarding the Rebecca Johnson burial in Fernwood Cemetery. That likely isn't our Rebecca Perdew Johnson. That cemetery is in Delaware County, PA over 200 miles away from Bedford County, PA and 226 miles away from Allegany County, MD.

The early Johnsons buried their dead in the Indian burial ground. Rebecca Perdew's father was buried on his farm. I believe her son was William P. Johnson. He is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Chaneysville, PA. He died in 1903. I still need to get a copy of his death certificate to try to confirm that he was the son of Daniel Johnson and Rebecca Perdew. (right place, right age, listed in probate records, correct middle initial, however he was married and out of the house by the 1850 census).

Hi Bronwyn - I contacted the Kane County Illinois Genealogical Society at 113 S. 3rd Street, Geneva, Illinois. They have Hinkle/Gross Bible Records from 1866. I might go there one day to see them. Talk to you later. Carol
