My grandfather's name was Oscar. His father's name was Gustav. Gustav Fay changed his last name when he entered the country at Ellis Island. All of us in the family know this story, but what we do not know is what the original name was!!! Apparently he did not want to sound "too Jewish." Some say the last name originally started with an "M." Anyone who would have known anything about this original name is now dead and all the ancestors are curious. Any suggestions?
