His mother treated his children with my grandmother like shit. My mother considered him the only father she ever knew. He was a chronic alcoholic and committed suicide when my uncle Pat (who was a child at the time) came home from school and found him dead in the garage from intentional carbon monoxide poisoning. His mother made it very clear early on that she had no desire to recognize any of the children in this family except for Reed. She was not a very nice person. Fortunately his children(whether biological or not) became very successful college educated individuals. The legacy she tried to end continues on today, his grandchildren are very accomplished, his sons boys both are officers in the navy. One actually illustrated the newest version of the navy handbook and is the federal liasion to media, and is currently deployed in afghanistan in covert ops. What a shame his mother forsaked his relationship with my grandmother.

Hello, Jennifer

You have some 'real' stories to tell about your family ... and Geni is a great place to put such stories that others will be able to know the "person behind the profile" a little bit better.

A couple of thoughts:

1) By 'building out' your own personal 'tree branch' until it overlaps with one of the existing profiles on Geni, then we can "get you connected" -- at that point, you will then be able to add your information into the profiles of your family members.

2) While it is great to attach a "Discussion" like this one to a profile, it is typically better to include 'stories' about an individual in their "About" on their profile. Discussion (or Projects) are a means to "tie together" stories about several people (you can 'link' them into the text of a Project or Discussion topic by simply copying the URL from that profile into the text).

Let us know when you have built your tree to a 'connecting point' (and copy the URL's of the two relevant profiles into that message, so there is no confusion about which two profiles are 'the same person').

3) The other thing to keep in mind is that Geni's World Tree is a 'shared' family tree. That means you can build on the work that others have already done without duplicating the effort -- and others can 'build out' or 'build on' your work, too!

Jennifer Wise I see you are a new Geni user. Would you like some curator help in building out your tree?
