So much is based on myth and legends. Many myths and legends have proven to be true such as the city of Troy. Much of our distant ancestry is based on best guess scenarios. Noah was an actual historical figure. Not just mentioned in the Christian Bible but in numerous other texts. Stories of great floods have been told in just about every culture in the world! Many of them are similar if not nearly exact as the Hebrew version. Is it possible a great floor nearly destroyed all of mankind many thousands of years ago and only left pockets of humans to tell the story and carry it with them as they roamed the earth? I don't know but I do not know enough to dismiss the possibility. Again the City of Troy is a prime example of stories told, turned myth then later discoveries proved it to be real!
Around 53% of the world belives that these people are real, and its been proven at least some of the later people actually existed. Perhaps you have a case for removing God since has no blood relation to Adam but just because you don't belive them all to be real doesn't mean you can force someone to delte it. All you have to do is not go on the page and never mention you have a connection to any of them.
I agree with Marie-Louise Lariviere see the discussion on King David / דוד המלך . - King David and fictional names as son's http://www.geni.com/discussions/126005
Steve Watson -- if you read the discussion under the "Discussions" tab for God Almighty . you will find that this concern has been raised and discussed previously. I also refer you to the http://www.geni.com/projects/Biblical-Tree/38 project as being relevant to your concern.
If it is not FACT it is FICTION...Scientific or genetic theory is fine with me but some people have no interest in the facts. They fear a non-religious reality...And maybe they should as so many millions have been murdered and will continue to be murdered for their religion and by other religious and non-religious people.
I agree that geni isn't really the place to be arguing over religion. Once again it's as simple as just choosing not to add them to your family tree. This is also not the only mythological people that you can find on geni. For instance it says I'm distantly related to the Fisher King from the king Arthur stories. I'm sure there are several other examples. If someone else believes certain of these mythological people are factual or perhaps just doing it for fun, others shouldn't force them to delete them just because they disagree.
+1 with Justin
Geni is remarkable tool for learning tolerance..
It shows also how our certitudes are vain ...
Our worst enemy can be our cousin
You can born from a king lineage, and die as a slave.. and you don't have any control on that..
Some believe God (or Gods) can, other don't..
(I'll never say here what I believe)
The result is the same: we are only able to assist to the spectacle of the life .. and this is something really great ! I love it.
