Captain John Hindmarsh, Newcastle-on Tyne

Captain John Hindmarsh , postmaster, Diamond Harbour,Calcutta drowned by the upsetting of a boat, Sept.2. 1839. His widow remarried G.D.Templetory in 1840- source Asiatic Journal 1836 and A.J. Monthly Miscellany, 1839 - so have answered my own question - is anyone else interested!!

further re Caroline Hindmarsh - she was Miss Caroline Jones at her marriage to Captain John Hindmarsh in1834 in Calcutta when he became chief postmaster at Diamond Harbour until his unfortunate death in 1839There is family story that she was a "beautiful Indian Princess." -a euphanism for Eurasian descent? John Hindmarsh was my sometimes great- uncle and I am interested to find out more about Caroline - photos ,descendants? that would add to his story.
