WEDDING
Erasmus - Woolf
On Wednesday, the 15th instant, at noon, in the Phoenix Hotel, the nuptials of Mr. Theunis Theodore Erasmus, proprietor of the Victoria Hotel, and Miss Goldie (Sally) Woolf, the third and youngest daughter of Mrs. Henry Tate, were celebrated. Punctually at 12 o'clock the bridegroom, attended by his best man, Mr. Charles Edwards, arrived and was shortly afterwards followed by the youngest bride Barberton has seen. She was led into the large dining room of the hotel by her step-father, Mr. Henry Tate, who afterwards gave her away. The religious service of the Romish Church was conducted by the Rev. Farther Chamard, and subsequently the civil function was discharged by our worthy Landdrost, who, at the conclusion thereof proposed, in felicitous terms, the health of the happy couple. Very pretty indeed did the bride look in her beautiful dress of white moiré-antique and embroidered muslin, with Empire belt and sash, veil, and wreath of orange blossoms. At one o'clock breakfast was served, covers being laid for over fifty, the majority of whom sat down to do justice to a menu that reflected the highest credit on the cuisine, for which, on such occasions, the Phoenix has ever been noted. Later in the afternoon the newly-married couple took their departure (under the usual fusillade of rice and old slippers) for Welensky's, Jamestown, where the honeymoon will be passed.
