Joseph Landry was born about 1815-1820, probably Quebec., Canada and immigrated to Virginia, USA where he became known as Joseph Nathaniel Londeree.

Family story is that Joseph Nathaniel Londeree immigrated to the USA at the age of 12 (c. 1828) with one of his uncles and was involved in canal building. Eventually he ended up in Buckingham Co. VA.

Joseph m. Jane Harrison Starks b. Feb 29, 1816, Virginia.

A Joseph Landry who was born February 11, 1816 and was a descendent of Guillaume Landry is not the correct connection based on DNA analyses. However, several DNA analyses stongly suggest that Joseph Nathaniel Londeree descended from one of the Rene Landrys.

According to Jane's obituary (Joseph's wife) he sired 12 children and ten reached adulthood; 11 showed up in various censuses in the USA. The twelfth child may have been Alford (if spelt right or Alfred) O. who may have been born in 1862 and lived with Jane's brother, James. There was an A. O. living with James M. Harrison near Manteo in the 1870 census. Apparently he died at a fairly early age. Family stories state that Joseph was a caretaker/tenant on Chapman Glover's farm, which was located just west of Route 602 near to the Slate River.

Joseph was killed at Harper's Ferry on Sept 15, 1862 in West Virginia.

Ben Londeree, a descendant of Joseph's, is trying to connect Joseph back to Rene (the Younger) Landry as his DNA which matches up with a relative of mine, suggest he is of that line. Since DNA has proved that both the Rene's are related it is also possible that he might be connected to Rene l'aine Landry.

Please let me know of any Joseph Landry that you find that was born between 1815-1820, moved with an Uncle, that you cannot find any further info for , like who he married or where he died. I would like to see Ben find his missing branches.
