I'm stuck! What else can I try? Thanks! I'm trying to figure out where these people are from:
John Donnelly, born approx 1840 in Ireland, came to America in 1863, was a machinist.
His father, John Donnelly.
His mother, Honora Donnelly, born approx 1815-1820, came to America in 1885, was a widow at that time, and listed her place of residence as Cork. Her parents were Timothy and Ann McMahon.
This is all I have to go on. I have all census, immigration, Naturalization, marriage and death records from the US and they all just simply say "Ireland" for place of birth. Griffith's Valuation has five John Donnellys in Cork, but the genealogist I hired dod not find John's birth record in those parishes. I know of no siblings or other family. I found two Irish Civil Reg. records for the death of a John Donnelly in Cork whose age would make sense. One died in 1869 at age 52 and had a wife named Hannah. I suppose this could be them, but I have no way of knowing for sure.
I refuse to believe that I can't figure out where they're from, but I really don't know what else to do. So, give it to me straight, am I done? Or is there another route I can go?
