A friend of mine who is not involved in family research began receiving messages from Geni announcing that she is linked to a person i New Zealand. She doesn't know the person who is identified as her partner and she doesn't know the individual who added her as a partner/wife. With my help she found and contacted this careless researcher who claims that Geni won't allow her to make the correction! According to the tree manager, "Geni advised; As it is a Claimed profile it must be cancelled directly from your account under account settings." My friend tried to edit the link to remove herself but gets a message stating that since will "break the tree" she can't make the change. She made a complaint to Geni several weeks ago but the problem has not yet been resolved.
This is absurd and gives a bad name to both Geni and to family research! Any suggestions about how to resolve the problem? Has anyone else faced this dilemma?
