Could be a simply typo. Pam Wilson (on hiatus), was it maybe supposed to be 1954 for his death? That would make sense.
Okay, a perusal of the census records turns up some very interesting information.
1. There is neither a Carl NOR an Earl in this family. I have no idea how Earl got listed, but it appears that he is probably the son of Milton A. and Eddie (female) Johnson of Henderson County. As of the 1940 census, he and Helen Myracle were not yet married, so perhaps the 1945 date was their marriage date. She was born in 1916. So I have removed him from Atlas and Viola.
2. I found out Viola's first name was Emily.
3. Here are Atlas and Viola's children, per the census records:
--Bula P. born July 1893
--Ray R. born Jan 1896
--Hal b. c. 1904 (listed as Benj. A. in 1910 census but Hal in 1920 census)
Okay, time for bed!
Thank you for clarifying. They did have a son Carl who died in infancy. He is buried in McCall Cemetery. The transcript of cemetery records reads "Johnson, Carl 10/13/1900 - 7/12/1901 “Son of A.D. and E. V. Johnson”
They also had a daughter according to the same cemetery record transcription reads Johnson, Bulah, 7/13/1893 - 8/3/1907 “Dau.of A. D. and E. V. Johnson”
In addition her obituary was in "Crossing the Dark River" page 56 ‘Blankenship, Beulah (The Lexington Progress, August 9, 1907) A Sad Death: Mrs. Beulah Blankenship wife of Walter Blankenship, daughter of Atlas Johnson, and granddaughter of R. W. Wallace, died last Saturday morning at the home of her father-in-law, Frank Blankenship, three miles northeast of town. Deceased was but in her 15th year and at the time of her marriage in the fall of 1905, had not reached 13 years. Her very early death is a sad one and we deeply sympathize with the husband and others her mourn her loss.”
