Hi. My name is Ian Kahn. My Grandfather, Fred Kahn fled Germany to New York from Mittelsinn during WWII though I'm not sure exactly when. He died in 1998. I don't know much at all about Mittelsinn or his relatives other than he had a brother named Joseph. Any information would be really appreciated. Sorry if I can't provide much or if this is the wrong place to ask such a question.

Hi Ian,
it exactly is the right place to ask this question.
I don't no much about Mittelsinn and the region because for me it lies "opposit the road". I live in Northern Germany and those places are eight hours away by train.
But what I know is: your grandfather's name might be shortened in
New York. The names :Siegfried, Friedrich, Manfred,Alfred, Fritz
are called Fred and .... etc. were shortened to Fred.
I'm sure you've a birthdate and then you can find nearly everybody and his family because you still have to be registered is this country as soon you are born

Ian,
Do you know anything about his relatives (Wife?, Parents? Kids, Siblings??)
Any dates? (Birth? Marriage? Immigration?)

I seem to have found my family line. His full name was Siegfried Kahn.

Siegfried Fred Kahn
