A descendant of Christian has given a DNA sample to the Wyant Project at
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/wyant/
(Look at both the Patrarch and results pages.)
It shows an exact match with a Weygant family from Freinsheim in the Papatinate who were early settlers in PA and MD.
It would strenghthen everyone's paper trail if more male descendants joined the project.

I've been thinking of having my dad do this, mostly because I think it's so cool. Thanks for posting!

Question.... Christian is my 4th great uncle and one of Christian's daughters is the connection to my father. Does that mean that the dna test will not make a connection?

Thanks!

I believe so from how I understand you. Basically the person testing for yDNA has to be a male Weyandt/Wyant. Perhaps you can do some back tracking and forward tracking to find someone to approach.

As posted above, Christian has been matched as Hap'group R1b - Genetic Family A. The other member of this is Johann Jost Wygandt, born 1671. The geni profile currently has Christian matched with Jost's brother, who is in the same R1b, but is not in the same Genetic family. As such, I'm changing Christian's father to "unknown Wyand" and grandfather to Jost. If anyone can confirm which of Jost's sons is Christian's father, I'll change it.
