Does anyone have sources to validate this woman's mother as the daughter of Steven's first wife?

Her marriage to Johannes Pijthuis in 1697 appears to be the only record we have here for her:
"NGK Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope, 10 Mart 1697 Johannes Pijthius geboortig uijt de Beverwijck jongman met Cornelia Botma geboortig vande Caep jonge dochter, - Cape Town Marriages 1696 to 1712 on http://www.eggsa.org/sarecords/index.php/church-registers/cape-town...;

, and this date suggests her birth might be more commensurate with that of the younger family.

@Judi your note on the father's profile suggests you might have more evidence up your sleeve?

I see that Delia Robertson has found no record of her that she thinks links her to this family at all.

De Villiers Pama vol 1 page 88.
Name of first wife is not known however the first three children are from that marriage.

From her father's inventory:

'... met 'er dood ontruijmt bij wijlen den oud Burgerraad Cornelis Botma en desselfs overledene huijsvrouw Jannitje Gerrits ... Cornelia Pijthius als representerende haar overledene moeder Cornelia Botma ... desen 8ste April 1716.' - MOOC8/3.21

and her baptism: 'Ano' 1678 Den 19 Maij Cornelis Stevenson en sijn huijsvrow Jannetje een dochtertje Cornelia gedoopt' on http://www.eggsa.org/sarecords/index.php/church-registers/cape-town... it appears that her parents are incorrect

1.Cornelia (1678 ) is b4c2 the daughter of Cornelis and Jannetjie and not the Cornelia b3 in question.
2. No, sorry, no primary source listed.

This Cornelia was married to Pijthius if we look at her daughter's surname?

I don't think there was a Cornelia, b3, unless she is the 'Naleken' mentioned in Steven Jansz's inventory.

I have this:

Monsterrol van de vrije luijden 1685
Aan't Stellenbosch
'Steven Jansz en Hendriekje v. Wageninge 1 k '

Monsterrol 1695
Aan't Stellenbosch
'Steven Janz Botma en Hendr. Hendricks 3 k. '

Inventaris .. met de dood ontruijmt bij Steeven Jansz: Botman .. ten voordeelen van sijn egte huijsvrouw Hendrikje Hendriksz: .. en drie kinderen gen:t Kornelis
Jan en
Naleken Botman ten anderen zijnde .. 12:en Maart a:o 1700 - MOOC8/1.50

Johannes Pijthius marries Cornelia Botma in 1697 and marries Anna Louw in 1698. We should probably look for her (Cornelia b3) death between these dates.
The snippet quoted by Jansi is about Cornelia ( daughter of Johannes )regarding her predeceased mother. Probably not mentioned in the inventory because of being predeceased.

My translation of the relevant bit in MOOC 8/3.21: '... Cornelia Pijthius representing her late mother Cornelia Bothma ...'

This would mean that Cornelia stepped into her mother's shoes to inherit from her grandfather, since her mother was deceased.

The other heirs are all grandchildren, their mothers all being predeceased.

What about no mention of Cornelia, b3 in Steven Jansz's inventory? Or Petronella?

have tried to answer here twice, and each time internet bombed out - sorry.

okay, that worked. I'm in the middle of a wikitext write up for the pierre Lombard profile connected to the French Huguenot Project, and I don't want to risk losing the gist in the middle. Can I leave it up to both of your expert skills to make headway / solve :-) this mystery until I finish?

I agree the predeceased mother Cornelia Botma is key.

And as for Nalaken?!

No hurry - it's a difficult one. I suspect we're breaking new ground here. No one better than the two of you to research it though.
