Testing if discussion feature works on Geni

Were you looking for a Public Discussion - or one that would flag your Family Members? This is a Public Discussion. You might try Family Discussion as well, in case that is what actually provides what you were looking for.

No, I actually was trying to see a public discussion. It used to work where everyone got the alert on discussion. Since Geni now needs a subscription (as a member of Pro), I think those who are NOT paid member, they may not get it. Can you tell me if you are a paid member ? I have subscribed as "Pro" and have paid my dues for that.

About 100 NEW PUBLIC discussions are created every DAY. So NO-one gets alerts about them, unless:
1) They specifically choose to "Follow" that discussion (after it is created).
2) They get "tagged" in the discussion itself.

But how any one knows if there is a discussion going on ?

If you personally get tagged or a profile you are managing get tagged in a public discussion you will get a notification about that.

People following you will also see that you have started a new discussion in their news-feed.

Most of the curators are checking the public discussions daily with the "[ ] Show only discussions I'm following" option cleared.

If you want to reach out for your family you start a family discussion which, if I remember correctly, get a notification of.

if someone you follow, replies to a discussion, you will see that on your home page
