Captain Thomas Macdonough - Macdonough family from New York city

I have been trying to research my family records from New York (borough kings New York). I am having trouble with my grandfather Edward Everett who married my grandmother from Wethersfield Conn.. His mother's name was Lottie A Marston and the father was Henry R or C Macdonough. My dad had twin cousins in New York that we used to visit in the 1960's. their names were James V Macdonough and Edward E Macdonough. I know there were three brothers that came to the United States in about 1730. John settled at Newtown, Long Island and left numerous decendants. Augustin went to the West Indies andJames went to Delaware. I am decended from the New York line. I am trying to bring it up to the present generation because I know that one of my dads cousin name was E Everett Macdonough with a son Edward E Macdonough and a wife Florence W Macdonough. The son had three daughters the last I knew. Also the other twin cousins name was James V Macdonough. Pleas help me solve this problem I have.
