Goodmorning Judy,
To reserve a picture for several profiles in the same project I have a 'foto-album' called ---labels--- and every time I find a new representant of that project I can find the foto quite easy. Is that what you mean by 'without reloading'?
Adding tags give the possibility to share several projectpagina under one and only word, so by using that 'tag' or specific 'search-word' you can find them quit easily all at the same time. But, unfortunaly, some are so redundant with adding so many tags not all of them 'to the point' also this feature is loosing quality, I think.
liefs&groet, Jeannette.
Example of where i use 'profile-LABEL-images' :

When later descendants or more direct famiy-members of victimes of this big Watershed 1953 in South-West Holland come in Geni I will offer them direct management and sugggest them to change the 'labels' by more personal photographs of their lost relatives.
I use the same picture for several profiles by simply identfying the people in the pic, kind as if it was a group photo..., like in

What you do gives the same results as I described, for only ONE picture is in that way used for very many profiles. We had the same intention with the 'label' George J. Homs designed for the Dutch emigration project:

but we discovered this approach a little bit late and then it's a hell of a job to add them afterwards. It was also at a period projects could not yet demonstrate a general image. So, if you plan a project where is it appropriate -if only temporarily- to use this 'tool' to find all linked profiles back in de trees and mass of geni, make a nice label at the beginning but be also aware of the facts that not all descendants like their grandfathers & -mothers walking arond with a general 'hat'. groeten, Jeannette.

An example were TAGS were overloaded, instead of good and informational links to other projects. Maybe curatores should learn and communicate about the function they see for this feature, for it is 'misused' already... While it COULD mean a important addition to the search-function of projects, where so many managers use titels not informative, nor complete. Only for their own benefits?
That is o.k. for personal, privately ment projects too. But in Geni we can not make project-pages either PUBLIC or PERSONAL yet. I would encourage that, for it is not good for all projects to play as a star on the Google-stage directly, while ment for co-operation and collaboration issues between internal geni-users.
I think it would be better to emphasize on mutual links between projects, not too many, but in reach of interest and information scope.
And, ofcourse, think twice before you choose a project-titel, for an average user can NOT change it afterwards without begging a curator...
