Date of death on headstone: April 31, 1965 (there is no April 31). Is the correct date May 1 or April 30?

Funny, not even the relatives have reacted on that date ;-)

I would guess it is more difficult to miss on the day than on the month, so I would guess April 30, but just to be sure you could contact the one responsible for that Find A Grave photo or some of them who left a note.
