Tony - I have tried every which way to get the following reply into the trail about Hugo Gold book - but........... If you are able to forward it to others, I would be grateful. Or maybe explain how I can get it into the trail!

I am totally confused as to how to use Geni - not least how to respond to the questions about Hugo Gold's book on the Jewish Communities of Bohemia. But - in the hope that this reaches those who are asking about it - this address
http://www.hugogold.com/ - gets you to the key point - then click on either the Bohemia or Moravia book address.

As some of you know, Jan Hellmann and I have been working our way through the Bohemian book and have so far translated about 15 chapters (including Stankau) . Having become stuck for months (but now finished) on the massive chapter on Liberec/ Reichenberg (where my late father-in-law originated), we are now focussing on those chapters written in Czech. The finished translations are placed within the Yizkor Books project within JewishGen (http://www.jewishgen.org/yizkor/).

We are working on about five others -most of these are in the SW Bohemia quarter - in the region south of Pilsen. Unfortunately, not all communities were covered by Gold - eg Klatovy, Pribram.

The Moravian chapter is large (630 pages) and not so easy to access as the book on Bohemia. Also it is (mostly/all) in German. If anyone needs a copy, I have already downloaded it and can forward it.

I hope this email reaches its intended recipients!

Thank you Hugo. I will go and have a look.
Is there a place where there can be a recommended list of reading? I have found this on amazon and wondered if anyone else has read it.

Michael Miller's book on Moravia (above) is excellent. I highly recommend it.
