P/O Barriball "was a member of the crew of a Mosquito aircraft, which was damaged by anti-aircraft fire over enemy territory. The pilot endeavored to make a forced landing on the sea about 30 miles from the enemy coast. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the aircraft was observed to break up on impact with the water. Nothing was seen of the crew."
