Grizel seems to have two husbands with the same name but noticeably different birth dates. Probably the origin of the two fathers for John (b 1565 or 1574?) and the apparent spurious siblings for the latter.

Does this quote help?

From Burke's Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed
Gentry, pg 104 (scanned, not fully checked against view):

John Blair, of that ilk, who had four charters of lands, dated in
1573, 1575, 1580, and 1597. He espoused Grizel, dau. of Robert, third

So for now I think we keep the Grizel's separate

Grissel Sempill who married John Blair

would have too many children, I think, to also have been the same as Grizel, the daughter of Robert, third Lord Semple had only one daughter named Grizel Semple. She married James Hamilton of Stanehouse and had issue. Following the death of her husband she became the mistress of John Hamilton, abbot of Paisley (afterwards archbishop of St. Andrews) and had further issue.

Perhaps Grizel who married John Blair was a natural daughter? Or there is another mixup.

Or other opinions welcome.

Thank you Robin!
