Hoping someone can help to solve this mystery!

In 1796 a William Dick left 7000 pounds and a house at Pall Mall to his granddaughter Caroline Amelia Dick who died as Caroline Davies at Brighton, England in 1855, without issue. I think she was the daughter of John Dick and Isabella Sharp.

The will was disputed by John Gough (1800 -1866) on behalf of his brothers James Gough (c.1790 -1876) and Alexander Dick Gough (1804 -1871) as the next of kin, and they were awarded the money, although the house went to others. I'm trying to make the connection between the Dick and the Gough families and logic suggests that a daughter of the original William Dick must have married Alexander Gough who was the father of the three Gough men.

The witnesses at Alexander Dick Gough's baptism in 1804 were Ann Norris (nee Dick) and Margaret Dick. The minister at his wedding in 1827 was a William Dick.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !

With thanks
