John McCall was born in the year 1743 in Argyl Scotland. Mormon Church records indicate that John McCall [McColl] and wife Mildred had sons John, born in 1759, and Samuel, born in 1760 in the County of Argyl Parish of Loch Etive in Scotland.
Ship records of the Jupiter of Larne sailing from Appin, Argylshire, Scotland to Wilmington, N.C. in 1775 state that aboard were John McCall with his wife Mildred and their children: John, age 16; Samuel, age 15; Donald, age 12; Dougald, age 8; Alexander, age 4; and Catherine, age 2.
John McCall, eldest son of immigrant and brother to Samuel, resided a short while in Cumberland and Orange Counties, N.C. On Dec 18th, 1777, he acquired land in Tryon Coounty, N.C. on the branches of McNabbs Creek on the south side of the Catawba River.
John McCall, immigrant, died in 1776. A memorial for him is located at the Longstreet Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Fort Bragg Reservation, Fayetteville, N.C
