My grandmother was adopted. She knew she came from Tennessee and though her name was Louise. The 1920 census shows her name as Melvina Scott 4 yrs old born in Tennessee. The story of her name was that a neighbor of the adoptive parents gave the little one to them for adoption and they named her after this neighbor/friend. Anyone know of a baby girl adopted from the Scott family in Tennessee?
