Private User - based on the fact that only a public profile can be turned into a Master Profile, how can we make profiles of living people into Master Profiles now?
I noticed that a great amount of people in the royal and noble lines are private profiles now since we only had put the MP status on the most known persons, not the spouses as an example, even if they indeed are "public notability".
Private User This whole max family for MPs and even merges is a PIA. I posted in another discussion about one experience I had with a private profile when the Check Public tool was still working. There were 28 in the max family and none of them were active. I also could not make public one where the estimated death was in the 1700s. Private profiles should be made public automatically when they are 100 years old, not just ignored. This is especially true since Geni's focus is going back to the one tree concept.
Private User so am I to understand that all profiles of people who are deceased will become PUBLIC? Even those that are in my generation? In my direct tree? I'm very concerned about the invasion of privacy here. When Geni made our circles closer - 3 generations out, it seemed like I still had some privacy. If all of the privacy goes out the window, then I'm seriously thinking of deleting my profiles and going back to Ancestry. This will become one big privacy breach.
Still some time until they get to work, abut I have asked in a curator discussion that Geni officially clarify this issue.
The only thing that as been said is about restrictions: You will not be able to make a profile of a living person public, and the only exceptions will be Master Profiles where the curators will get a special tool for that.
You cannot conclude the opposite form this: That you are forced to make the profiles of deceased people public, something that would be very wrong if you for example have a deceased child or little brother.
There is the option to delete those living profiles that family has not claimed and work on the rest of your tree, entering only the Private family that need be to make a connection with another Claimed family member.
I have changed most of my living family to initials with no other data. Once the profile is claimed they can change it to what they want along with their decendants and immediate family.
Beth Marie Beeman, - where did you get the idea that you cannot add profiles of living people?
What changes is that profiles of living people cannot be public profiles and indexed by Google anymore.
Just add them as before and people in the family-group will not see any difference anyhow, except the green blob telling that is is a public profile people outside your family-group, - and Google, are able to see.
