Does anyone know the real scoop on Prudence? According to this she was a Stockton => http://www.ctgenweb.org/county/conewlondon/billc1600.html I have also seen her listed as a Perkins and a Peck.
I can't seem to find anything online that gives her a proven maiden name or parentage. She is my 13th great grandmother. Would appreciate any information.
Leslie it's most often given as Prudence Peck and I'm not clear where the Perkins even comes from.
However as far as I can tell from the Mayflower Society and the Great Migration Project, there is no definitive answer. I consider the Great Migration project work "state of the art" and would really expect a strong challenge mounted to their work.
Would you be kind enough to update the Geni profile? This site has good information but I think needs to be just "extracted from" for the profile, and I'll look for more references.

The Stockton source may be outdated
1580 - Sometime after 1579, William BREWSTER (Sr.) married second to Prudence STOCTON, who was his relict. William and Prudence (STOCTON) BREWSTER probably had children James BREWSTER m. --?-- WELBECK; Prudence BREWSTER m. Robert PECK; and John BREWSTER. THE AMERICAN GENEALOGIST, v.41, pp.1-5; Banks, Charles Edward, THE ENGLISH ANCESTRY AND HOMES OF THE PILGRIM FATHERS (1929), pp.35-39; Sherwood, Mary B., PILGRIM, A BIOGRAPHY OF WILLIAM BREWSTER (1982), p.15.
And may refer to a different Brewster. There were a lot of them in Scrooby at the time ....
According to this site => http://www.treetreetree.org.uk/Brewster.htm Perkins may have been the name of a first husband. Of course that is based on works of John G. Hunt, so I guess we'll take that with a grain of salt.
If you could unlock the names, I should be able to complete the merge on her and then I will add a little something in the about me section.
Thanks!
