From Paul Tanner-Tremaine:

Richard Philip 'Dick' King was NOT born in Chatham, Kent. He was born in Cam, near Dursley in Gloucestershire, was a member of Bradshaw's party from Gloucestershire, and sailed in the Kennersley castle out of Bristol. None of these places are anywhere near Chatham in Kent.

And just to think In South Africa they named an underpants range after Dick King. Legend have it that he reached Grahams town only in his underpants the only clothing that hold the whole 10 days.

Luvvit :-) (But I doubt you have good sources to prove it :-))

Sharon, you are a kind person, I thought you would have been cross at me for making the remark. But really there were such a range. It could be that they change it to " Jockey Junior."

We know what impact that ride had on the history of South Africa . I sometimes wish a lion get the horse enway
