Unfortunately we do not have any hard evidence of the name change: Madorsky -> Sadowsky (Sadofschi in Romanian) ->Epstein
It is largely anecdotal. It remains a mystery of the geographic origin in Russia. The name Madorsky was more prevalent in Belorus.
There is reasonable evidence to suggest that the family was domicile in Romania between 1878 and August 1882.
