not defintively proven i have checked other sources and they haven't found records that say where .. merely the fact his wife was from that area is not proof he him self resided there before coming to the us.

The weblink from Michael McCann, above (douglashistory.co.uk) has a link to theories regarding William's parentage as well as an update (2013) regarding progress on the search for evidence on William Douglas's parentage. It also includes details on locations lived, and when He and wife, Ann Mattle came over to America.

(This January 2013 update regrding the coordinated search for parentage of Wiliam Douglas gives the following information (small part of data)--dropbox organized for discussion of this information):
Betsey[Howes] found the ships that came across the Atlantic in 1640. Julie [Hornung] has just discovered a passenger list
that contains references to William and Anne and two children landing in Boston in 1640. There are
reference numbers with the entries and Julie is working to understand reference numbers.
