Etienne sailed from Plymouth with the first New Bordeaux party. He refused to go "up-country," remaining instead in Charleston. He led a distinguished life and died June 17, 1839. Marie Ann Joseph LeRoy was the last of the New Bordeaux settlers, dying in November, 1839, but she came on a later ship. Etienne was the last one from the first ship.

There are several profiles by this name already on Geni, but I haven't taken the time yet to see if any of them are our guy. The Stirpes article claimed that Etienne led a distinguished life, but it was not distinguished enough to rate a Wikipedia article.

I bet you can find him in Google Books. I'll look for him in my Bobby F. book.
