I have the family tree which my mother and father compiled before the 2nd World War. Trouble is it's written in the old German script - very difficult to make out. Can anyone help?

Dear Ute, a word from a fellow-sufferer: There are various websites that illustrate old German script. I have copied a couple of sample alphabets, but of course, the people keeping these records were not consulted! Just Google "old German script".
Good luck!

Dear Ute and Judith, It would appear that, German "Deutsch" records are a difficult type of documentation to navigate. I, too, have had difficulty. I believe that you have to be open minded, when looking at spelling. The translators that have documented or recorded these papers, have had a field day with interpretation. I, too, would like any clues. The name "Holtzheuser" is recorded in many spellings. I need a clue into how to break the 1740 barrier, Thanks Theo
