I'll tell you what - I will temporarily join your tree and help you straighten this out. I will need to work through each generation to see if there is an actual problem. Sometimes Geni's algorithm calculates a more convoluted path because that's what was "cached" (calculated previously and hung around). If so, I can "force" it to calculate the straight forward path.
