michele harris I am not a descendant, but I have been working with the late 1700s and early 1800s Southern New Jersey counties of Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland and have some resources that I purchased with genealogies. Also there are some good free Google e-books on Southern New Jersey families.
Also, there is a New Amsterdam project that is actively collecting the early Dutch settlers to the Mid Atlantic region. I know from my research that a lot of them ended up in Southern NJ, such as Conover (originally van Kouwenhoven), one of who was my ggg uncle from Freehold, Monmouth County.
George J. Homs - did you run across Sooy in the New Amsterdam project?
