24 Oct 1903 is correct.

You spotted that error before either Vin Gillman-Bate (in Toowoomba) or I (in Ottawa) did, although we both have death notices (slightly different from yours) with the correct date of October 24th '03 (and Frederick Calder is our nearest common ancestor). Here are his and my e-addresses:
