I started this project a few months ago - http://www.geni.com/projects/Settlers-of-Wisconsin/10880

My question is, that how can I let anyone join it, and anyone add people to it without manually approving each person, and each profile??? I want this project to be 100% public, and I want people to be able to add themselves and profiles to the project without waiting for my approval.

TIA

Hi Steve

We've started a project that I think will answer some of these questions

http://www.geni.com/projects/Working-with-Projects/12487

Please come collaborate or follow. This applies to everyone!

As a curator I will add any profile I run across that meets project definitions. If there's a list to work from I can also search specifically for some "first settlers" for you.

I don't know a way around having to manually approve each new collaborator, but what you can do is add lots of collaborators ;) Each collaborator has the power to add and approve others, so the job will get easier over time.

My dad's family were Wisconsin pioneers up from Virginia in the 1840s, so I took the liberty of joining the projects and adding a couple of ancestors ;)

Do you have a cut off date in mind? My mom's family were Swedish immigrants to Wisconsin in the 1890s. MIght be too late to qualify for this project.

Justin, great! I don't feel qualified to specify a date range, but I think the 1890's is just fine. I think a broad definition is just fine. More than anything, my goal of this group was to share resources specific to early Wisconsin. I have a thread for that, so feel free to comment in it, if you have any Wisconsin specific books or other resources.
