Everyone should "like" these feature requests so that Geni knows how important they are too all of us.

How would that work, Alex? In my tree, all deceased profiles are public. The only thing private is the information about living people. Not everyone does it the same way, so perhaps there is a merit to your point that just doesn't apply to me.
As I said to you privately, here's the fundamental problem I see.
I have to live with my relatives. Geni is just a hobby.
When it comes to privacy, fact is nothing, my opinion is nothing. Perception is everything. If this relative thinks the her old church is going to find her, or if that relative thinks identity thieves will use her mother's maiden name to hack her bank accounts, then I'd better do what I can to adjust.
I want to put my family on Geni, and I want to have collaborators. If my collaborators are going to see my private tree, then I will have to either remove my family members or remove my collaborators. I'd rather not make that choice.
Support for adoptive parents is my absolute biggest wish for Geni. Not having that support significantly hinders my ability to work in my own family tree.
Regarding collaborators being given access to your family group, I firmly believe in keeping collaboration and family group requests separate. However, it would be nice if there could be a checkbox on the collaboration request that says "Also invite to family group," or something similar.
The problem is that if you really want to "collaborate" you need to use "family group," and no ordinary person could possibly be expected to know or understand that. That is the issue. On Geni, a collaborator cannot see or merge the private nodes on a tree. Since the default for new trees seems to be set on private, that means that every new user cannot get help from a collaborator. I cannot even click on "view tree" for my collaborator. That makes no sense to me, nor should it make sense to anyone. Which is why it must be changed. The type of collaboration that keeps your private tree private must be called something else, and the word "collaborate" needs to mean that you are letting the other person see and edit your tree.

There used to be something called "friends" to allow other Geni users to see but not edit or merge your private tree.
See for example http://www.geni.com/discussions/82935
And by "corrupted," you really mean "corrected." :-) There's no doubt that the public tree on Geni is by far more accurate than any large private trees in existence. I constantly hear people complain about Geni that there are "mistakes," but when pressed, they come up with none. Of course, there are plenty of mistakes, and it is great that they are noticed, because that is how they get fixed. As I recently explained to a friend, if I enter 10,000 new profiles, I would expect to make several hundred mistakes (an error rate of 2-3%) and probably several dozen will be serious. But the great thing is that everyone can find the mistakes and correct them. It is like having several hundred proofreaders looking over your manuscript every day. I'll take Geni's tree over the tree on anyone's hard drive any day of the week.
As my father likes to say, you have to take the good with the bad. For every act of "corruption" there are a dozen acts of "correction." That's the genius of Geni.
Not a biggy, but a useful idea:

Regarding the ordering of Documents:
Geni had a Feature Request, which is now marked as "Done": http://help.geni.com/entries/20099142-sort-option-where-you-see-the... - I had then and have now no objection to the Request that was made -- I do object to the fact that Geni, rather than ADDing the Sort Option requested instead simply switched the ordering.
Sometimes one way is a more convenient order, sometimes the other. One reason I want the option to see Documents oldest to most recent is that I had been slowly going thru my documents, making a variety of notes, including checking for those without tags -- now everything is on totally different pages, so I cannot easily find where I left off, etc. - and what page the document is on will continue to change as I add documents.
Am asking for support for: http://help.geni.com/entries/22155321-sort-option-where-you-choose-...

Alice Zoe Marie Knapp you can choose how you would like maiden names displayed in your account settings
I get "Error You don't have permission to view this page" when I clicked on link above. Think numbers at end make it specifically for Angus. Perhaps this is the more generic form for the link:

For those of you who look at or work on Projects ... you might want to consider supporting this "Feature Request": http://help.geni.com/entries/22387918-add-hover-card-to-the-profile...
I've added a couple more feature requests. Here they are for your upvote consideration.
