Is it possible that the conflicting birth dates have to do with "old" and "new" calendar (according to Julius Caesar or according to Pope Gregor)? If that is the case: Is there any possibility in sight that we could find a solution? Like: "All dates of the Russian Empire until 1917 are given in the old style" or any other solution, because the conflicting data is nauseating.

You are probably correct. This has been a bump in the road for quite some time, I imagine.

As for a solution, doesn't sourced data override unsourced data?

If nothing else, a proper source will eliminate most guesstimates and provides a solid ground with reference points for further research and judgment.

In any case, Geni-sourced data is currently indicated, for instance, in the merge dialog box and should also make things a lot simpler when resolving any conflicting data. If several sourced dates still conflict, It does makes sense in most cases to go with the data present in the source that is also closest to the event itself in time/space/culture, etc.

Of course, If no source is given at all, the data is speculative at best anyway, no matter if it states O.S., N.S. or whichever system is eventually referred.
