In Geni we have a choice of how to display someone's name. I can choose to display a maiden name, or a middle name - or not. Sir Elly was not knighted until 1926, eight years after Laura died. That means that she never used the title "Lady" while she was alive.

This creates confusion with her daughter-in-law who WAS known as "Lady Kadoorie". It is far more appropriate to put the name "Lady Laura Kadoorie" in the aka field as Erica has done rather than putting it into the display name.

I am a manager on this profile, but it has been locked. I have see no justification for this particular profile, to make it impossible for Geni members to have the profile displayed as they prefer.

"In the United Kingdom, the style "Lady Mary Smith" indicates that a woman is a holder of a peerage courtesy title in her own right, and is considered incorrect usage by the wife of a knight."

Given this, can a curator return the title back to the AKA field where it was originally ?

Note that her daughter-in-law, the living wife of a knight was correctly referred to as:

Muriel, The Lady Kadoorie

Annelise, the discussion is on a topic that you have had a serious disagreement about with it's co-manager this weekend. So serious that it has now involved Geni staff.
Whatever the purpose in having it in public right now, the effect will be to goad.
If you don't want that to appear as your deliberate intention, you should leave it alone until the matter is resolved.

Sharon, this discussion as about "what is the correct information to be entered in this profile"

That topic has now been thoroughly discussed, decisions reached, and the changes made.

Could you kindly remove your off-topic comments from this discussion.

You are welcome to start a new discussion on your preferred topic.

Thank you.

I reported the post Annelise and I have sent you a message
