Does anyone have sources to establish the validity of this profile as Duncan MacDonachadh's wife? All the sources I have for him say that we do not know who his wife is. It would be great to know that she isn't just a tag on as a result of a mismerge.
I'm also suspicious because the name is masculine, not feminine.
Sharon,
I marked this one as an MP so I would remember to investigate the same problem.
I think this is the result of a bad merge on Duncan. Someone decided to resolve the parent conflict by making Halvdan his mother.
I don't like to cut people loose if I can possibly identify them. I think this profile for Halvdan was supposed to be Halfdan the Grey, father of Sigurd Syr and son of Sigurd Hrise.
I wanted to find more info, but I don't think it will be possible given the minimal info in the profile. Halvdan was definitely not married to Duncan.
Thanks for coming in and seconding that, Justin - Perhaps Halfdan the grey is on the tree, and we can just merge this one into him. I'll try and remember to take a look - That way it won't be cut out of the tree.
He didn't, perhaps, have a connection to Groa Thorsteinsdottir? She was the other person who had got tangled into this Duncan.
Ok, I fixed it. And now this discussion is attached to a profile where it makes very little sense unless you know that Harald Grå was mistakenly married to Duncan, Abthane of Dule, Lay Abbot of Dunkeld, Mormaer of Atholl.
Groa Thorsteinsdottir was apparently the wife of a different Duncan: Duncan, Mórmaer of Caithness. You seem to already have this connection under control.
Thanks Justin, you're a star. And at least we haven't cut a profile out of someone's tree - even though they'll likely never know the extra mile you went to avoid doing that to them. I applaud you :-)
Yes, I had figured out the Groa thing - I just wondered if Harald wasn't part of the same mismerge. (Altho there seem to have been so many on this profile that it wasn't extremely likely :-)

Well at least it records what mistakes have been / could be made.
For posterity we have documented the presence of an absence! :-)
To @Sharon Doubel; @Justin Swanström;
Hello everyone!
I have never heard of any sources that state that Halfdan Sigurdsson had a spouse named Thora. In fact sources have usually stated that his spouse was/is unknown.
Here is a link to one of the main sourse on Nordic kings:

Thanks, Anna. I have never seen Tora Ranesdatter Rise before, so I don't know the answer. The curator is Private User. He might know the answer.
@ Justin Swanström and Björn P. Brox!
Rani "Mjonev" was fosterfather to Kong Olav den Hellige Haraldsson. Olavs father, Harald and Rane "Mjonev" where fosterbrothers. Rani was the son of Hroar "The White" who fostered Harald.

I still haven´t found this Tora

This is getting fun. Thanks Anna.
I thought Tora might be from a mismerge, so she could have evolved on Geni from someone entirely different. But, a quick Google search finds many instances of her. For example:

It doesn't prove anything without a source, though. I would like to find out more before we cut her off here.
Thanks Justin!
Here is another link to Halfdan "Grae" and his wife isn´t mentioned:
http://historiska-personer.nu/min-s/p7e540271.html
I think it would be wise to mention in a comment that there isn´t any certainty to that this Tora was wife to Halvdan "Grae" and no proof of her existance rather than cutting her away for now.
Justin Swanström!
With reference to Groa (either Groa or Gro) Thorsteinsdottir and her husband Duncan Maormor of Caitness (my ancestors) - You can read more on the pair on this site called Scotsites: http://www.scotsites.co.uk/ebooks/sagatimechapter3.htm
