How can I help?

9/17/2014 at 2:21 PM

I would like a project for R1b-M343 so I can add my earliest known paternal ancestor.

Can't find a project for R1b1b2a1a2d to link the SA progenitor,
Richard A Holmes, SV/PROG to, but I'm not sure if I'm just missing the project because I don't have the Terminal SNPs.
Help, Justin Durand or others.

@Sharon Doubell
U152 and Subclades Research Project is a research project focusing on the Haplogroup R1b1b2a1b4 / R1b1b2a1a2d defined by the SNP U152 / S28 and its subclades such as L2 / S139 (R1b1b2a1b4c / R1b1b2a1a2d3), L20 / S144 (R1b1b2a1b4c1 / R1b1b2a1a2d3a), L4 / S178 (R1b1b2a1b4d / R1b1b2a1a2d4) and many others. The main purposes of this advanced research project is the expansion of the U152 and Subclades Phylogeny by the discovery of new SNPs, the study of their point of origins and their probable migration routes.

Thanks Vladimir. The SA tree has been making good use of the FTDNA data. It's great & we're advertising it wherever we can; but I was looking to see if there was a Geni R1b1b2a1a2d project for me to link the SA Progenitor to.

@ Andrew Quinn Champion
R1b-M343 was founded sometime during the Last Glacial Maximum (over 18,000 years ago), probably somewhere in or near Central Asia as far as we can currently figure. If you have tested with Family Tree DNA, you should join the R1b Project at https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/r-1b/about/background

Have you done any Y-SNP testing to find a more specific haplogroup below R1b-M343?

Plz: when you link or load your DNA to Geni, it would show on your profile witch Haplogroup you are, but if you click on that " Haplogroup " on you profile, it would take you to a Geni initiated project for that group, so you and your profile and all your relatives that link to that group trough you are automatically linked to that project.

If you select to join the project, you are immediately a collaborator in the project.
I wanted to leave such a project that I'm not actually linked to, but Geni told me : "You do not have permission to remove users from that project."

I know its going to be a big task, but perhaps we must migrate over to the Geni projects sooner than later. Before others start on those projects and then having duplicate projects.
If we do it now, we can copy all the info over to the blank Geni projects and then abandon/delete the self created projects.

I know for the old and settled projects its going to be a huge task, but for some its going to be a breeze.

example to identify a Geni project on the fly:

H11 (Mitochondrial DNA) <= this is a Geni initiated project
H11 (mtDNA) <= this is not

Post the project links, please C.
