Howell's place of birth is given as Monmouth, Monmouthshire, England. I just want to point out that Monmouthshire is in WALES, not England! I see this so often in genealogy, a lot of ppl seem to think Wales and England are interchangeable, but I can assure you they are NOT!! (Otherwise, good job--I descend from the Vann family of Sampson Co, NC and old Howell just might be an ancestor of mine--a WELSH ancestor lol!) P.S. In Welsh, "ap" means "son of", "verch" means "daughter of"--it took the Welsh a long time to adopt regular surnames!
