I can see why you don't see your relatives much.

In Geni's Terms of Service - "Content / Activity Prohibited" -- #19 is

"attempting to impersonate another Member or person or posting any third party's (including without limitation any family member's) information on the Geni Services without permission; "

So -- if anyone brings this to Geni's attention and they feel like doing so, they apparently can terminate your membership for having violated their Terms of Service (second have of above - posting the info without permission). Reassuring as all get out, isn't it??

Oh yes. I understand the privacy thing. And so, I tell them about the tree, I ask if they want to be on it, they are excited about it. I invite them to the tree. And then they see who else is on the tree, Like it should be any surprise.
And then they won't give me information to contact others who may want to be on the tree.
So I tell them, its their side of the tree, they can do what they want.
So they delete their own profiles. I find it sad. I started this because I wanted to document this for the upcoming generations.

As I said, the dead are friendlier than the living.

You know what really bugs me? And I bet others will agree.
Who will carry on this when when I pass? who will take on this documentation process, when privacy and politics are more important than facts?
How many lost in limbo trees are on this site?

Ok - definitely looks like you should not be considered in violation of posting info without permission. It was my impression that many folks totally ignored this. Glad to know some take it seriously.

I have not had as many problems as you have (tho in part because I usually hadn't even listed the exes), but have had some (for example: one relative changed the info on profile of her ex-husband, who I believe was also father of her child to her current partner - and when she changed partners again, simply edited that same profile to the new info - ignoring the fact that this person definitely did not father her child)

I was going to suggest putting the info in a Private Document (so readable by Family, not General Public), perhaps attached to your Profile/in your Media/Documents section - but I suppose that is still posting the info they do not want posted - so unsure if there is any way to help future generations with this info, and still respect others wishes (and Geni's Official Terms of Service). Perhaps keep a good paper file at home?
