That's the part of the tree that separates from mine...although on the other side of my family I am supposedly related to Martha Carrier, another so called Salem Witch.

I did wonder about the Carrier name! Did fhe Carriers and Elwells know each other then?

I have no idea...I'm sure they did. I haven't been able to establish a connection to those Carriers though. I can only go as far back as 1804 in New York...Carrier was a popular name in that area around that time.

@Sarah Jessica Parker. I'm SJP's 46th cousin once removed. No Salem witches here. On my side, we're related through centuries of German Jews who emigrated to Germany via Spain. She and I are both descendants of the exilarchs who guided the Jewish people for more than a thousand years after Jews were exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon. The exilarchs were descendants of King David. Some of the ancestors that SJP and I have in common married Arabs or became Muslims. Some moved from the Middle East to Spain. Some married into the Spanish aristocracy, and on her side, into the English aristocracy whose descendants surfaced in her case, though not mine, in Salem and elsewhere in the New England colonies.

15th cousin once removed. Her ancestral story was shown on "who do you think you are"? I think it is on YouTube. Very interesting story about her ancestor who was accused of being a witch and was saved from death.
