The Johannes Jochemus van der Merwe except you I find on Geni is born in 1826 and husband of Elizabeth Johanna van der Merwe,
Father of Christiaan Hendrik Stevanes (Stphanus) van der Merwe.

May be you should contact the manager to check if you are a decendant of him and get help to get connected.
