I've recently compiled my genealogy, inwhich I was compelled to follow this line of the Spooner family. Zoath"Zoar"Spooner was my 5th Great Grandfather. When he left Dartmouth,Bristol,Mass.,after the Revolutionary War. To claim land in the land lottery of Georgia. Zoath's daughter Elizabeth Spooner, married William Jacob Griner or Greiner. Of course this is where the Spooner name ends in my genealogical history, but I am proud to know that we all have such a great family history back to when when Phillippe de la Noye, whom arrived in the New World in 1621,aboard the ship Forture, one year after the Mayflower. He would Anglosize his surname to Delano. His Grand Daughter.Mercy Delano would marry William "Wing"Spooner, son of Samuel S.Spooner and Experience Wing. The Wing name I've learned is highly regarded in Massachusettes. I was only able to trace the Spooner family line back to James Spooner in England,in the 1500s. I will add that I really like this format, and the ease to go from one relative to the next.
I've found in my research that the parents of Zoath Spooner; Joseph Spooner and Deborah Spooner were second cousins. Joseph's father was William Wing Spooner. Deborah's father was Simpson Spooner. William Wing Spooner and Simpson Spooner were first cousins. William Wing Spooner's father was Samuel Spooner Sr.'s. Simpson Spooner's father was Isaac Spooner. Samuel Sr. and Isaac were brothers ;the sons of William Spooner and Hannah (Pratt) Spooner. This is information that you most likely know. I just posted it for other researchers.
