In profile-view a duplicate is indicated by a green bar, in tree-view by a magnifying glass.
As there are public, private and 'unconnected' profiles I think it would help if they were indicated as such by different color codes.

After a merge the green bar is usually gone, but not the magnifying glass (at least not right away). I find this confusing.
