I am on Geni basic. When I search on a person in my family tree then click on their profile I am unable to access it - it goes straight to the upgrade to Geni pro every time. Why is this when they are already in my family tree?

Are these Private or Public profiles? Also, how closely related to you? Ones you added or ?? Claimed or unclaimed?

It may make a difference, tho I agree it seems wrong.

Search is a Geni premium feature. However, if the profile is in your family or managed by you, a green check mark should appear next to it and you can click on the result. Is it possible that they are in your family tree, but farther away than 3rd cousin or 4th great grandparent?

Michelle - I thought you were supposed to be able to go out to 4th cousin. Max Extended Family Group goes out to 4th cousin.

Also - Basic Members can Search, they just cannot click thru to the Search Results unless it meets certain criteria -- is a profile they are Primary Manager of (or co-manager??), or it is in their family group seem main ones. Tho explanation I saw was - they were to see green check and be able to click thru if it was one they had permission to edit, BUT this does not seem to always be the case. I do not know if those instances where they do have edit rights but cannot click thru from search qualify as bugs, or not.

But -- Given that Basic Geni members can search, but just not always click thru to the results -- perhaps a different phrasing would be preferable to "Search is a Geni premium feature" -- yes??

You're right, I transposed. It is 4th cousins or 3rd great grandparents. If you can click through to the profile, you should see a green check mark next to the search result.
I think saying search is a premium feature is much easier to communicate than the distinction that you mention.

I've been caught with this one. The extent of your Family Group can be changed within your own profile settings. One of my relatives had their Family Group extending to 2nd cousins only (don't know how this occurred), but changing this to 4th cousins solved their problems.
