This is the clearest indication that he fathered illegitimate children by Dorothy McIlroy and that the oldest , James Annesley, born 1801 was tried in Dublin and transported to NSW for 7 years (as James Ansley) for "Crimes :Various" His name does not appear on a number of records.
He married Elizabeth Quinn and their son born 1831, John Annesley married Merab Wenban. Their daughter Mary Ann Annesley married James Jackson, born in Castlecomer, Kilkenny, Ireland in 1854, and she was my great grandmother, through the Jackson line.

If the Earl died in 1802, and Dorothy before 1801, was convict Jams really theirs?
The other contradiction on the peerage website is James was the eldest son, but convict James was born 1801, perhaps he was issue of Dorothy and the Earl (if she died in childbirth or soon afte) it lists 2 further, younger siblings, how do the other siblings arise unless they all predate convict James?
Any idea when Dorothy was born, or what her age at death was?

It is interesting that thepeerage.com is a site run by a keen New Zealander, Darryl Lundy, and not an official record of the peerage.
